Disable the rendering of embedded bitmap in certain fonts

Do you’ve noticed, using Linux, in some mail you receive the fonts rendering are not anti-aliased? Well, by looking at the mail source, usually the font used is Calibri and there is an explanation and a solution. The cause is that inside there type of fonts there’s embedded also a “bitmap” version of the font and at a certain size will be used instead of the true-type code.

The solution is very simple.

Create a file in your home called “fonts.conf” and put the following XML code inside :

<match target=”font” >
  <edit name=”embeddedbitmap” mode=”assign”>
    <bool>false</bool>
  </edit>
</match>

Thats all.
